There are many Essential oils that are used to treat Chronic Inflammation.
Because they are derived directly from natural plants, oils contain antibacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties and are used by pharmaceutical companies to develop the medicines they market for inflammatory and other health issues.
Essential Oils provide you with the opportunity to avoid many side effects of over the counter medication by going directly to the source.

Essential oils are readily absorbed through the skin and carry with them the anti-inflammatory ingredients which can go to work immediately to relieve issues or symptoms at the site.
Many inflammatory conditions such as arthritis can receive relief through the usage of essential oils without having to resort to medication which may have serious or unfavorable side effects.
My recommendation is to first consult with your medical professional before relying on any home remedy, in case there is some underlying risk in not pursuing medical diagnoses and treatment.
Discuss your unique situation with him/her. Perhaps s/he will approve your use of oils or reduce your medication in order to accommodate them.

Cypress Essential Oil is able to treat chronic inflammation in cases such as colitis and carpal tunnel syndrome as well as others that require a stimulation of blood flow to address inflammation.
Cypress can be mixed with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil and applied topically to areas of concern.
It can also be consumed internally in a Gelatin Capsule available at Amazon

Frankincense Essential Oil is incredible for its ability to accelerate healing by reducing chronic inflammation.
Research has shown it to be effective in reducing or eliminating scarring.
Frankincense essential oil can be taken in a veggie cap to relieve the pain of arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and asthma.
Massage your lower abdomen with Frankincense and carrier oil at a 50:50 ratio to help ease painful menstruation and to strengthen your uterus.
Control inflammation in your skin, joints and muscles by massaging equal amounts of Frankincense and carrier oil like fractionated coconut in a blend.
Cuts and scrapes can be cleansed and healed using Frankincense undiluted on the injury.

Increasingly, Geranium Essential Oil is the topic of research for use in developing safer anti-inflammatory medications.
In 2012, a study found that Geranium Oil has the ability to reduce chronic inflammation resulting in safer and more effective cholesterol reduction than can be achieved using traditional drugs. The same was found for its effectiveness with joint pain medications.
Geranium Oil can be consumed in a gelatin capsule.
It can also be mixed with carrier oil and applied topically on joints to ease the pain of arthritis.

It is concluded that ginger volatile oil could effectively reduce symptoms of experimental colitis in a dose-dependent manner. PubMed.gov
Gingerol, a main ingredient in Ginger Oil, has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. As a result, Ginger Essential Oil has been found to be quite effective in treating chronic inflammation.
In a 2014 study, researchers found Ginger oil reduced the symptoms of ulcerative colitis which is an inflammatory bowel disease.
Another study indicated that it may also have a protective effect on renal inflammation.
In addition to its anti-inflammatory abilities, Ginger has other medicinal benefits which can assist with nausea, digestion, as well as respiration.
Ginger is known to help relieve inflammatory pain from conditions such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
Try adding Ginger Oil to your cooking wherever the recipe calls for fresh ginger. It is quite powerful so one drop is probably all you need.
Add a couple drops to fractionated coconut in a gelatin capsule and take daily.

Lavender Essential Oil has anti-inflammatory properties which can be put to use against chronic inflammation such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
It can be used against many conditions such as eye, ear and throat infections.
Lavender oil also has the effect of increasing blood circulation and its pain relieving, anti-inflammatory properties make it a "go to" oil for healing hemorrhoids.
A couple drops of oil applied directly to the area can provide instant relief but sometimes you may experience some skin irritation. In that case you should dilute with a little carrier oil such as fractionated coconut prior to application.
Add 10 drops of oil to a cup of Epsom Salts in a nice hot bath. Relax for at least 30 minutes to let it do its work. The combination of hot water and Lavender Oil will ease inflammation and reduce/eliminate the pain.

Peppermint Essential Oil is one of my favorite oils because of its anti-inflammatory properties. I use it instead of aspirin for my headaches.
It is also known for its anesthetic and analgesic properties which cause a numbing sensation in areas where you may suffer from chronic inflammation, migraines, arthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), etc. (it is highly recommended for IBS)
Peppermint Oil is actually able to block the channels which transmit pain signals to your brain.

Chamomile Essential Oil has natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties which make it a great oil for chronic inflammation.
It can ease joint pain, arthritis pain, neuralgic pain.
It can be applied topically with a carrier oil, diffused or inhaled from a cotton ball, massaged into painful areas or added to some Epsom Salts in a hot bath.

Thyme Essential Oil is a very powerful anti-inflammatory and acts like an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) to lower inflammatory levels in your body.
Mix Thyme Essential Oil and a carrier oil at a 1:3 ratio and massage sore muscles and joints to treat the chronic inflammation pain of gout, osteoarthritis, rheumatism, sciatica and sprains.
This will also work with general pains and sports injuries.
Add a drop to a cup of tea or a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut and massage it into your skin. (you can also consume the mixture in a gelatin capsule)
Thyme Oil can also stimulate the circulation to assist with edema and obesity.

Topical application of Wintergreen Essential Oil is very popular for a number of ailments/conditions and it is used often for both hot and cold therapies.
For chronic inflammation such as arthritis, rheumatism and tendinitis, rub 2 drops combined with 5-10 drops of carrier oil such as fractionated coconut into your joints and bones to reduce pain and swelling.
Dilute 50:50 with a carrier oil and rub into the problem area or into reflex points on your feet.
Wintergreen can become quite hot when applied to wet skin, or when water/sweat is added later. If it gets too hot, add carrier oil to calm it down.
note: It is not recommended to consume Wintergreen orally.

This blend is quite tasty. Add 3 - 4 drops to some honey mixed in a cup of hot water or herbal tea.
You can also apply it topically in a green clay compress or a carrier oil in order to cover a larger area.
